The project “Norway-Ukraine. Professional adaptation. Integration into the state system” (NUPASS) is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway and continues the project “Retraining and Social Adaptation of the military officers and their Family members in Ukraine” (2007-2019).
Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, together with the Public Organization “Center for Civic Education,” with the support of the International Fund for Social Adaptation, is implementing a project “Norway-Ukraine,” which provides retraining and social adaptation for Ukrainian military servicemen, war veterans, and their families in the field of Information Technologies in Small Businesses.
The project coordinator at Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University is Olena Ivashko.
The program of social adaptation of retired military servicemen, together with the International Fund for Social Adaptation (the project “Ukraine-Norway”), began in 2003. The project partners are 15 Ukrainian higher educational institutions, including Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University from 2014. In the period 2003-2019, 10646 people became participants in the project, among them there were1401 ATO / JFO participants.
The aim of the project is to reduce the impact of negative social consequences of economic and defense sector reforms in Ukraine on retired military servicemen and members of their families and to promote cooperation between the two countries.
The implementation of this project will contribute to the employment of the project participants as a way to improve the living conditions of the families of military servicemen; the start of their own (family) business in conditions of high unemployment in Ukraine, application of the organizational skills of military servicemen, and the formation of a class of law-abiding taxpayers.
The project is based on professional retraining of the target group for civilian specialities that are in demand in the Ukrainian labour market and assistance to project participants in social adaptation to living conditions in civil society. The executors of the educational part of the project are Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University and the Norwegian University NORD, which organize and carry out professional retraining of project participants in the speciality “Information Technology in Small Business”. As a result of completing the tasks of the retraining course, graduates receive three documents: a certificate of professional retraining of the state standard (from Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University), a joint certificate from the University of Nordland and Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, and a joint diploma from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense of Norway.
The program is open to:
1. Regular servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other security agencies who have been transferred to the reserve or will complete their service this year.
2. War veterans.
3. Family members of all the above categories.
5. Family members of the deceased combatants.
